The Wife's Kitchen for Ramadhan Al Mubarak.

Ramadhan is just around the corner,Insyallah Saturday next week this blessed month will come giving us opportunity to give,to redeem,to ratify and to become Hamba Allah sbt in total as we supposed to be.As usual since small mama always look forward to this beautiful and blessed month,it brings joy to every corner of the hearts and homes.May both of you experience this feeling soon and together we embrace this month with iman and taqwa.

Talking about kitchen,during mama's time at kampung uwan usually dah clean every corner of the house by now,she will store jeruk limau,belimbing,ikan masin,gula kabung,tepung mata ikan,kacang hijau etc.Mama then learnt that this simple food like jeruk limau,ikan masin,ikan bilis so berguna masa puasa,kalau dah jemu with all the lauk,the simple and humble dish ni lah penyelamat selera.Taking it from uwan mama practises the same thing,everytime nak puasa mama fill in the fridge with eggs,sardine,salted eggs, and already bought a bottle of mango pickles,of course kalau dapat buat sendiri this jeruk will be more meaningful and sedap.

Lime or limau nipis is one of the fruit that you should store in a fridge,during ramadhan you can't really control the intake of fatty food..lemak sana sini,santan sana sini so it is good to take a glass of warm lime juice after that.


This lime can be a very tasteful jeruk..picture above shown lime pickles indian style where they put chili powder and fenugreek..for mama we normally do the jeruk by beating or golek2 the lime for a while nak bagi hilang the bitterness,mama then made a cross slit on both side,put coarse salt at the base of a clean jar,put one line of lime,repeat with coarse salt,selang seli until finish,no need to add water as liquid from the lime will fill in the jar eventually.Close the jar tight and wait for at least a week,how to eat it?after dah boleh makan mama normally slice the lime thinly,cut the chili padi, the small onion and it goes well with fried fish,sayur rebus etc but if you are not peminat benda masam you won't appreciate this dish.
Indian style lime pickles is very masam, you can buy it in a bottle from any big supermarket,they have mango and other vegetables pickle too.Indians normally serve this pickle together with salted chili if you eat the nasik daun pisang and it tastes so good with kuah rasam and ikan goreng.


Salted Egg is another pembuka selera for buka puasa or sahur..


Ikan masin so sedap di bulan puasa..mama tahu all this food is not healthy but consume it moderately..if you fry the ikan masin with green cili,onion and brinjal..wahhh..that's all that mama can say..

Another unhealthy but sedap lauk is ikan terubuk masin from Sarawak..to pacify and redeem your guilt steam it instead of frying..prepare the whole or part of the fish,sprinkle with cili padi,onion,asam gelugor slices and steam it..the salty taste will be very much lesser and you can escape the oil intake.

Gulai daging salai with belimbing is one of uwan favourite lauk that mama would like to prepare during ramadhan,the picture above is taken from mama's old fotopages..mama cooked the dish during ramadhan last year for uwan..insyallah and alhamdulillah mama would be able to cook it again this year.

Once in a while ada jugak craving for this instant noodles masa sahur..boleh tahan jugak sedapnya if you put an effort in cooking it..mama normally tumis the cili,garlic,add in tomato,kangkung and egg..sedapp..testimonial can be given by kak ikin,kak nur who always demand mama to cook maggie during hari raya despite our table been fulled with all kind of foods.

Alhamdulillah,may Allah Sbt panjangkan umur,berikan kesihatan kepada semua muslimin dan muslimah untuk menyambut Ramadahan Al Mubarak,kepada semua mama hulur jari sepuluh mohon kemaafan sekiranya terlepas kata,tersilap bahasa.

Selamat menyambut Ramadhan Al Mubarak untuk maksu, paksu, tia ,mia and uwan.

Memang tak sabar kan nak sambut puasa. Looking forward la nak pergi pasar ramadhan this year. Rasanya ikin memang tak sempat la nak masak kalau time keje.

Kecurrr nya air liurr tengok ikan msin terubuk. Sedapppp...

Bulan puasa memang sedap makan yang kerin2. Especially sahur. ikan pekasam pun sedap. maksu lupa ...satu lagi juadah istimewa. Haha, ingat tak kalau kat kampung...kalu kita dah lepas bukak puasa...lepas sembahyang. sebelum tido mesti nak pekena nasi satu round lagi. tapi time tu, ambik ikan bilis menath taruk kicap nagn cili padi. Nyum nyum

Kat atas tu semua peberet tuuu....plus telur itik masak lemak. Mengucap kin...mengucap..lapar ni...ahhahahahaha

ikin,hopefully semua ahli keluarga diberkati bulan puasa ni dan selamanya..ye lah lauk ikan bilis dengan kicap cilipadi tu bahaya sebab boleh makan nasik tanpa sedar berpinggan banyaknya..nanti datang bukak posa kat kota damansara ye..kalau ada peluang boleh pergi masjid baru tarawih...dan teringatnya kat kampung.

ikan sembilang salai masak lemak cili api ngan belimbing pun terangkat gak..+ binjai jeruk ngan sambal belacan..wah3 ;P
